The beachgoers were out in force today as Memorial Day weekend kicks off the start of beach season here at the Shore.

And as beach season ramps up, one publication took on the tough task of ranking our beaches from Long Branch to Cape May.

Thrillist, which has shown plenty of love for Jersey in the past, set out to make up a list of the best dozen beaches at the Shore.

Here's what the rankings look like:

  • 12 - Stone Harbor/Avalon
  • 11 - Belmar
  • 10 - Long Branch
  • 9 - Ocean Grove
  • 8 - Seaside Heights
  • 7 - Point Pleasant Beach
  • 6 - Ocean City
  • 5 - Long Beach Island
  • 4 - Spring Lake
  • 3 - Wildwood
  • 2 - Asbury Park
  • 1 - Cape May

I could single out a few things to nitpick on this list, but I'm going to call out just one because it's a big one in my opinion.

Long Beach Island isn't a beach per se. There's Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Harvey Cedars, Surf City, you get where I'm going with this.

I get that they can't rank every single LBI beach, but let's at least give them some individuality.

So what do you think of their list? You can read what they have to say about each by clicking here.
