Distract and Rob House Burglary Suspects Arrested
Suspects have been arrested in the distraction robbery of a Brick Township home on Hooper Avenue December 10th that was caught on video. Brick Police say they got numerous tips from the public and other law enforcement agencies after releasing surveillance images to the media and Facebook and arrested two of the suspects. They also recovered stolen weapons.
Township Police said on January 2nd, Sonny L. Stanley, a.k.a. Mandingo who's a 38-year-old white male from Bernardsville and Tommy Marion, a.k.a. Piglet, a 38-year-old white male from Rutherford were arrested and charged with Burglary and Theft. They both posted $70,000 bail while at the Brick Police Headquarters and await a future court date.
Firearms removed from the Hooper Avenue residence were recovered by the Bergen County Dive Team in the Passaic River, according to Brick Police.
Brick Public Information Officer Henry Drew said the investigation is still active and they're asking anyone who may have additional information to contact Detective Daniel Waleski at 732-262-1170.
Law Enforcement agencies in Rutherford, Bergen County, North Arlington, New York City, Delaware and Abington, Pennsylvania also participated in the investigation.
On December 10th a suspect in a white work van approached a resident in the 2500 block of Hooper Avenueas he was taking out his garbage and struck up a conversation with him as a distraction, while two accomplices entered the resident's house.
