
Homicide investigation underway in Toms River, NJ along Hooper Avenue
A joint investigation is underway after a man was murdered and two others were injured early Saturday morning in Toms River Township.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little made the announcement on Saturday.
Through the preliminary investigation, still in its early stages, both law enforcement agencies learned that there were three victims.
Toms River Police responded to 1723 Hooper Avenue located right before the Wawa heading towards the Silverton section of the township around 1:20 am on Saturday morning on a report of shots fired.
Prosecutor Billhimer and Chief Little said that the officers who responded to the scene found three people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Toms River Police Officers were shortly joined at the scene by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

Soon thereafter, all three men were brought to the hospital -- a 29-year-old to Community Medical Center in Toms River, the other two to a hospital in Monmouth County for evaluations and treatments.
Prosecutor Billhimer and Chief Little reported that the 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at Community Medical Center, another 29-year-old man brought to a hospital in Monmouth County is in critical but stable condition, and a 25-year-old man was treated for his injuries and later released from care.
The investigation is just underway and further information will be released as it is made available, according to the OCPO and TRPD.
