Deadly Fire in Tent City

An investigation is underway after a deadly fire in Lakewood's Tent City.

Police say the fire broke out in a tent around 2:00AM Saturday.  The badly burned victim was discovered about 10 feet away.

Tent City spokesman Pastor Stephen Brigham said the victim was well-liked in the community.  He also said this tragedy could have been avoided.

"He was on the census list to get housing from the township,"  said Brigham.  "We went to court a year ago today, in fact, and it was agreed upon that everybody in the camp would get a year's worth of housing."

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
