The humpback whale is one of those animals you never forget. These giants are huge, up to around 50 feet, but somehow still graceful in the water.

Believe it or not, they even pass by the Jersey coast during migration. Big, powerful, and pretty amazing to see in the wild.

 

 

This story, however, is a sad one with another dead whale washing up on a Monmouth County beach this week.

 

According to a report from NJ.com, "Marine mammal researchers are investigating the cause of death for a humpback whale that washed up on the Jersey Shore Wednesday morning. The dead whale was first spotted floating in the ocean around 7:50 a.m., the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said. About a half-hour later, waves brought the animal onto the beach in Sandy Hook."
