I have always loved going to Island Beach State Park. Always clean, well kept, beautiful, and a great place to bring my camera. Like the time I captured photos of a beautiful Snowy Owl that was visiting the park.

Island Beach stretches for about 10 miles between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay, and that’s what makes it so special. You can walk the beach, go fishing, swim, hike, or just sit there and enjoy the ocean without looking at miles of hotels and houses.

The area has a long history, going back to the Native Americans who used the island. Fishermen and hunters also spent time here over the years.

New Jersey bought much of the land in the 1950s to preserve it, and Island Beach became a state park in 1959.

Today, it’s one of those Jersey places where you can get away for the day and remember just how beautiful our Shore really is.

Family Destinations Guide wrote an article that cited Island Beach State Park as the beach with the most "pristine" sand. "Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park is an underrated beach that boast gorgeous white sand and offers visitors a private slice of coastal paradise."

Next time you want to check out a beautiful beach at the Jersey Shore, head to Island Beach State Park. Warning: they close the park once the parking limit is filled, so if it's summertime, get there early.
