Serial bank robber from Colts Neck, NJ indicted by Monmouth County, NJ Grand Jury

A Colts Neck man behind a trio of Monmouth County bank robberies faces up to 20-years in prison following an indictment by a Monmouth County Grand Jury, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced on Tuesday.

It was in November of 2021 that Conor Kavanagh, 29, hatched a plan to obtain cash through means of robbing banks.

Kavanagh went to the PNC Bank inside of the Stop & Shop on Route 36 in Keyport on November 13, 2021, and presented the teller with a note telling them that he had a weapon.

He then left the store with an undisclosed quantity of cash and drove off in a green Toyota pickup truck.

That was the first bank robbery.

Then, on December 14, Kavanagh went to the Wells Fargo Bank on Newman Springs Road in Lincroft with a similar M.O. to the first bank robbery, handing the teller a note, while wearing similar clothing, and then again left the bank in a green Toyota pickup truck.

That was the second bank robbery.

Then, on December 17, Kavanagh went to the Wells Fargo Bank on Route 36 in Eatontown, where he again passed the teller a note demanding money and telling them he had a weapon.

As Middletown Police were investigating the bank robbery in Lincroft, they were able to identify Kavanagh as a then potential suspect, which was confirmed thanks to MTPD Detectives and the FBI who spotted the green pickup truck he was driving following the bank robbery in Eatontown, and inside the truck, police found money and clothing from the third robbery.

Police also found the information for a storage unit in Shrewsbury where they later found all the proceeds from the Keyport and Middletown bank robberies.

Kavanagh was then arrested and later charged with three counts of first-degree Armed Robbery.

He planned out his heists, Acting Prosecutor Linskey said that a search of the cell phone Kavanagh was using had evidence of online searches for local bank branches.
