A normal weekend trip to the local Home Depot turned into pure outrage as I was immediately greeted with an enormous display of premature yuletide cheer.

This particular photo was taken at the Home Depot in Neptune, but I'm sure it's not the only store that's already leaped into the sea of holly.

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas. In fact, I'm an earlier holiday music adopter than most: I have no problem rocking out to classic Christmas jingles in mid-November, well before Thanksgiving. But on the first weekend in October (the date I witnessed this disaster), I want to walk into giant spiders and cobwebs, not Christmas trees and snowmen!

With temperatures still reaching the 80s this mild October week, it's even more apparent how unnecessarily early this red and green rollout has been.

We all understand the importance of a strong Q4 for our local businesses and economy, but when will the madness end?
