Chris Christie Supports New York Mets Pitcher R.A. Dickey For The Cy Young Award

If New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had a vote, New York Mets pictcher R.A. Dickey would win this year's Cy Young Award.

"You bet he does," an enthusiastic responded Christie when asked by a listener if Dickey deserves the honor during Thursday night's Ask The Governor program, the day Dickey won his 2oth game of the season. Christie called the knuckleballer "a guy who has been winning under adverse conditions" who could have won "26 or 27 games had he been on a "decent" team."

Christie correctly remembered the last Met pitcher to win 20 games during the season was Frank Viola in 1990.

He also talked about David Wright becoming the Mets all-time hit leader this week, surpassing Ed Kranepool. When host Eric Scott mentioned it only took Wright less than 8 years to top the list but it took Kranepool 18 years, Christie defended the 1st baseman by pointing out Kranepool was a pinch hitter for the last 8 years of his career.
