A life is snuffed out on NJ Transit tracks in Monmouth County, where a pedestrian was hit by a passenger train shortly before 1 PM today.

Service was immediately suspended between Bay Head and Long Branch.

The agency immediately sent out a tweet, describing the incident as a trespasser fatality near the Elberon station.

According to supplemental details from NJT, an adult male entered the Brighton Avenue grade crossing just west of the Long Branch station, where the train made impact at about 12:30 PM.

The North Jersey Coast Line train Number 4335 had left New York City at 10:41 AM, with a scheduled arrival in Bay Head at 1:08 PM.

None of the roughly 42 passengers or workers on board were injuried, NJT said.

Service on the North Jersey Coast Line remains suspended between Long Branch and Bay Head until investigations have been completed.
