Belmar and Marlboro to Get Millions for Storm Debris Cleanup

Newly approved federal Sandy disaster relief money is making its way to the Garden State in the form of grants. New Jersey U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg announced Wednesday that three federal grants totaling over $9.2 million dollars are headed to Belmar and Marlboro to help cover debris removal costs. A grant is also slated to go to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) for the Public Assistance Program.

In a press release, Launterberg said the $9.2 million appropriation is part of the Superstorm Sandy Supplemental Appropriations bill that includes $11.48 billion for FEMA's Disaster Relief Fund that supports the grants distributed Wednesday.

Belmar will be getting $4,062,468 and Marlboro will get $1,665,172.67 for emergency debris removal to clear roadways for emergency vehicles. The NJOEM will be getting $3,500,000 to reimburse the agency for disaster management and recovery coordination efforts.
