I don't mind going to the supermarket. I like going to the store and looking at what's available this week that looks good.
I do my part to help my wife when we go shopping. I will get a list of several items we need, and I will go and grab them while she is looking for other items. This hopefully helps cut our time in half.
We do try to save money when we shop; I think most of you at home probably do too. During summer, my wife's garden does produce a very good amount of veggies, so we save, and we eat fresh off the vine. So when at the store, we compare prices and brands.
What Are New Jersey's Cheapest and Most Expensive Supermarkets?
According to new data from Freedom Debt Relief, they "determined the cheapest and most expensive major grocery chains available in every U.S. state, combining national grocery price comparisons with each retailer's current state footprint."
In addition, the report "found that shoppers in New Jersey could pay 52.7% more for a comparable basket of groceries simply by choosing a different supermarket.
The most expensive supermarket, according to this study, in New Jersey is Whole Foods. "Whole Foods is New Jersey’s most expensive major grocery chain. Its price index is 39.7% above Walmart’s benchmark, creating a substantial gap between the state’s cheapest and most expensive options."
New Jersey's least expensive supermarket, according to this study, is Lidl. "Lidl offers New Jersey shoppers the best value among the major chains analyzed. Its price index sits 8.5% below Walmart’s benchmark, making it the lowest-cost eligible chain operating in the state."
Today, supermarkets are a huge part of everyday American life, and here in New Jersey, we certainly know a thing or two about having plenty of choices when it comes to where we shop!
