Barnegat Road Stop Leads To Heroin Bust

A 40-year-old Waretown woman awaits a court date in Barnegat on heroin possession charges, following a Monday night roadside stop in the township.

Police say they pulled Maryann Vandevelde's car to the shoulder of Route 9 around 7:00 PM. A consent search led to the discovery of heroin along with Suboxone and drug-related items.

Vandevelde faces third-degree counts of possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, distribution of heroin, and possession of Suboxone, along with a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance.
