Are Vacant Gas Stations an Ongoing Eyesore in Ocean County?

I know it’s not a problem just in Ocean County, but for our purposes, we’ll stay focused on our vacant gas stations ⛽ here in Ocean County. Yes, it’s around New Jersey and around the nation, empty gas stations left to crumble.
I noticed vacant gas stations during our last few road trips, I guess they’ve been around but I never noticed. Gas stations that sit vacant look the same as they did the day they closed. Same price of gas on the sign, advertisements in the windows and maybe even a cup of coffee on the window sill. Like time stopped and froze these businesses in their tracks.
I came across this article which told the story of a photographer who captured images of vacant gas stations in Jersey and found a certain artistic quality in the images, which I understand for a few minutes while I look at the photos but then it's time to go.
Solve This Toms River Mystery
I did some investigating and it seems that quite often it's a station that had very expensive clean-up costs involved in removing the station......so owners may have simply walked away. Usually, these vacant gas stations have buried tanks with toxic sludge that can be very pricey to remove and properly take care of. More reason to welcome the ”electric” car into our lives.
Is this one of the biggest eyesores here in Ocean County? What do YOU think?
