A 5-Pack Of Random Thoughts

- I know it’s been a little fall-like this week, especially in the morning but I am optimistic that I’ll get in a couple of beach days in October for the first time ever. By the way this is a great time of year to take a walk on the boardwalk and enjoy dinner and/or a cocktail at the places you didn’t go to in the summer because they were too busy.
- So the network TV shows are returning for the new season but if you’re still looking for something to binge watch I highly recommend The Emperor of Ocean Park which is on MGM+ and stars Forest Whitaker who has always been one of my favorite actors. It’s a 10-part mystery suspense thriller and well worth your investment in time. They have not revealed whether there will be a season two.
- It’s bad enough the Mets have to battle history and the Atlanta Braves now Hurricane Helene has forced the teams into playing a schedule that is brutal and could leave the winner feeling like a loser. The two teams along with the Diamondback are battling for the last two National League wild card spots and were supposed to finish a 3-game series last night. However both Wednesday and Thursday’s games were postponed so now the Mets will play three games in Milwaukee before returning to Atlanta for a likely doubleheader on Monday. There is the possibility that the two playoff spots could be determined by Sunday which would mean the Monday games would not have to be played. Either way post-season play begins Tuesday or that could mean a cross-country trip for the Mets to San Diego. Officials could have done a better job with this.
- What’s more of a mess, the political climate and all that comes with it in New York City or Toms River? Just asking.
- I’ve basically been retired from covering high school sports for almost two years and I have little or no interest in going to games as a spectator. In other words I have moved on with my life…almost.
