The frontrunners among the pack of New Jersey gubernatorial hopefuls cross political swords tonight in the first official pre-primary debates, taking place at Stockton University in Galloway. Republican Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno and Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli begin at 6:30. Democrats Phil Murphy, State Senator Ray Lesniak, Assemblyman John Wisniewski and Jim Johnson take over at 8. It'll all be live on the Stockton web and Facebook pages.

Lakewood's state school monitor reverses a Board of Ed vote to retain 39 tenured teachers, opening the possibility of layoffs for all 140 instructors and staffers holding tentative layoff notices. The Asbury Park Press reports that a vote on the budget, reportedly short by more than $14,000,000, ensues once state aid amounts are finalized.

Tebowmania heats the atmosphere at Lakewood's First Energy Park, where former pro quarterback and aspiring Met Tim Tebow and the Columbia Fireflies arrive for a weekend series with the Blueclaws. Greg Giamborrese of the Blueclaws says that tickets are flying out of the box office. He recommends ordering on line and printing them, or downloading to your phone.

Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty bans Shore Point Distributors of Freehold from vending beer at the borough's upcoming Seafood Festival. Operators locked out Teamster employees in an ongoing contract standoff. Doherty told WOBM, "We cannot in good conscience allow Shore Point to make money off selling beer on public land in Belmar to working class families while at the same time they deny those same type of families the ability to work."
