5 States That Could Be Top Retirement Spots in America in 10 Years
Top Upcoming Retirement States in America
When we think of where to retire we think of maybe Florida, California, and maybe Arizona. The Sunshine State seems to be the main place to settle. However according to a new article from Secret Life of Mom, "The influx of remote workers and affluent buyers into Florida has driven up housing demand, making it harder for retirees to find affordable living arrangements. Faced with these challenges, retirees are exploring more affordable and tax-friendly states where their savings can stretch further."
According to the article published by Secret Life of Mom, 5 states seem to be the up-and-coming retirement destinations in the next decade.
5 States That Could Be Top Retirement Spots in America in 10 Years
5. Arkansas: A Haven for Fixed Incomes
"For retirees on a budget, Arkansas offers exceptional affordability. The state's total annual cost of living is just $43,865, making it one of the most cost-effective places to retire." I have never traveled to Arkansas so this state is one I don't know much about.
4. New Hampshire: Tax Benefits Galore
"New Hampshire's tax-friendly reputation is a major draw for retirees. With the lowest tax burden of any U.S. state at 5.1%, New Hampshire doesn't tax Social Security benefits and imposes only a minimal tax on investment income like Florida." New Hampshire is a beautiful state and I have visited several times and enjoyed each trip.
3. North Carolina: Southern Charm on a Budget
"North Carolina combines affordability with a high quality of life." When I visited North Carolina it was a big state with big urban settings, quiet rural neighborhoods, and a beautiful coastline. This state has something for everyone.
2. Iowa: Low Costs and High Quality of Life
"Iowa has emerged as an unlikely but powerful retirement destination over Florida. Known for its affordable housing, low crime rates, and excellent healthcare system, Iowa allows retirees to maximize their savings." Another state I have not visited.
1. Texas: The Tax-Friendly Powerhouse
"Texas consistently ranks as a top choice for retirees, thanks to its lack of state income tax and Social Security exemptions." I have visited Texas and its nice. Texas is a very big state with lots of options.
And Finally
According to Towncare Dental, "The city with the highest total population of seniors is of course the New York-Newark-Jersey City metropolitan statistical area, possibly because it also has the highest population in the country." The town in New Jersey with the highest senior population is Ocean City (24.46%).
