Vikky V. Morel, 26, and Niudis Vazquez-Moncion, 34, are charged with first-degree counts of possession with intent to distribute and third-degree counts of possession, according to information from the office of acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Grammiccioni.

Conviction on the first-degree charges would place them at risk of prison terms up to 20 years. The third-degree counts carry sentences of three to five years on conviction.

The arrests took place Tuesday, when the pair delivered the contraband to undercover narcotics detectives outside the store on Route 36, authorities said. It culminated a two-week probe into New York City drug activity believed to be extending into Monmouth County.

Both were placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold. Bail for Morel was set at $325,000. Vazquez-Moncion's bail was set at $250,000. Neither was given an option for release on payment of 10 percent.
