Last year, Hasbro released an exclusive figure through Kmart featuring Kylo Ren in a snow-dusted cloak and standing in an icy base. We'd seen the scene a number of times in the trailers, and it made for a moderately interesting variant of the standard Black Series Kylo. Still, that was released last winter, and we were all left wondering if we'd ever see the second half of the planned set. At the time, many presumed the follow-up figure would be Finn from that same wintery scene. Oh how foolish we all were to believe a trailer would show us the entire movie and spoil one of the greatest moments in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

On May 4, aka Star Wars Day, the diorama will finally be complete when Starkiller Base Rey arrives.

It's been a hot minute since we've seen a 6" Rey on shelves. Though her original figure was in plentiful supply in the lead-up to the movie's release, sellouts due to high demand and re-sellers created a virtual ghost town since December when looking for Rey in a Black Series figure. She's actually gotten a number of 3.75" figures, and those are steadily available, provided you aren't looking for the version of her from the coda of the film. That thing is harder to track down than the identity of Rey's parents.

The new Starkiller Base iteration is virtually identical to the original, though there are some snow effects painted on to give the impression she's been out in the elements for some time. There's also the matter of that sweet lightsaber. The only Rey figures to get lightsabers to this point were the 3.75" Resistance Rey and the version of her that comes in the Takodana Encounter set, which also due out on May 4. This will be the first 6" Hasbro figure to officially come with the lightsaber. It's about time.

It's a tad unfortunate that Starkiller Base Rey will be limited to being a retailer exclusive, and it may be a real challenge trying to get one on Star Wars Day. That said, there are plenty of Starkiller Base Kylo Ren figures available, so while the supply might not meet demand initially, it should be easy to get one of these Rey figures in the coming weeks. At least I hope so. While it selling out everywhere would be great as proof that people are still dying for more Rey toys, those sell outs also mean lots of folks might not be able to find it and could get frustrated by the inability to reliably get Rey merchandise. Unlike virtually every other new character from the Force Awakens.

The Star Wars Black Series Starkiller Base Rey figure will be available starting tomorrow at Kmart stores and online for $24.99.
