Weekly Addresses: Washington, Obamacare [VIDEO]

President Barack Obama discusses changing how Washington D.C. does business while Republicans continue to criticize Obamacare in their respective weekly internet and radio addresses.

Obama is telling Americans their frustration with politics is understandable. He’s referring to the fiscal crisis that shut down the government and brought the U.S. close to default.

“Now that these clouds of crisis and uncertainty have lifted, we need to focus on what the majority of Americans sent us here to do – grow the economy, create good jobs, strengthen the middle class, lay the foundation for broad-based prosperity, and get our fiscal house in order for the long haul,” said Obama.

Obama says even with the crisis over, Republicans and Democrats won’t agree on everything. But he says they should find areas of agreement. He’s pushing Congress to act this year on a budget, a farm bill and an immigration overhaul.

In the Republican address, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says Obama’s health care law is an affront to freedoms the Founding Fathers fought for. He says its implementation has been a national embarrassment.

“During the debate over this law, citizens in the Commonwealth were told they could easily access information about their health care choices and join the system, well that proved to be untrue,” said Cuccinelli referring to the experience of many his his state. “They were told their premiums wouldn’t increase, that proved to be false. And they were told they could keep access to their insurance and their doctors, and that proved to be downright dishonest.”

Cuccinelli is running for governor of Virginia.
