A traffic stop on September 20 leads to three arrests after police in Ocean Township witnessed an alleged drug deal happening, where 50 bags of heroin were turned over to investigators.

Following their observance of the drug deal on Highway 35 in Oakhurst, police continued their investigation and arrested 61-year-old Nick Vitrano of Neptune, 29-year-old Eric Durkin of Neptune, and 26-year-old Katelyn Sherlotti of Oakhurst.

The initial investigation by police lead to the recovery of 14 bags of heroin in the possession of Vitrano and Durkin, who were both charged with possession of heroin and wandering for the purpose of purchasing narcotics. Durking additonally received an obstruction charge and both men were released on a criminal summons pending a court date in the future.

Sherlotti was found to be involved in the drug deal detectives on scene observed as well, and was arrested at her Oakhust residence where investigators recovered 36 bags of heroin packaged for selling.

She was charged with two counts for possession with intent to distribute narcotics, two counts of possession of heroin, wandering, possession of hypodermic syringes, and possession of drug paraphernalia and was brought to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of bail totaling $25,000.
