Tinton Falls Teen Charged with Holding Knife on Red Bank Cops
A Tinton Falls 19-year-old awaits arraignment for allegedly brandishing a knife on a police officer who tried to arrest him in Red Bank Wednesday night.
Cameron Keyes faces two weapons counts and charges aggravated assault, resisting arrest, marijuana possession and traffic violations. He was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold with bail set at $131,000.
According to police, Patrolmen Stanley Balmer and David Hicks stopped Keyes’s car around 11:15 PM on Leighton Avenue for a driving offense. A background check revealed an active warrant issued in Neptune.
As Balmer and Hicks began their arrest, police said, Keyes whipped out a folding knife and fought off their attempts.
Once he was subdued, officers said they found marijuana in his possession.
