There was something very liberating about only using my credit card while on vacation. With no coins to weigh me down, I would be in favor of a cashless society.

Are there any Jersey Shore restaurants that currently feature strolling musicians? And where do you like to go to hear any kind of live music while you're eating dinner, even the non strolling kind?

Do most places refill soft drinks for free? And if they do not, do you think that seltzer water could be an exception? I mean, what does it cost the restaurant...maybe a penny or two per glass? And while we're at it, let's talk about iced tea. Why is it that places that offer free refills on soda won't comp you another glass of tea? Those of you who work in the restaurant industry, I'd love for you to chime in on this. And those of you who order soft drinks, seltzer, or iced tea: when you go out, do you expect there to be free drink refills?

This time of year you may be getting together with friends to celebrate the season. Good food and conversation can make it a fabulous night. Until the check comes. Some people just like to split the bill evenly. But some people, myself included, think it's most fair for people to pay for their share. Those of you who work in Ocean County restaurants, what are your thoughts on separate checks? Is it a big hassle? Do you get better tips because individuals are "rounding up?" And those of you who go out to eat, are you a fan of separate checks or does splitting the bill work for you and your friends?

Did you hear about the couple who visited 645 Cracker Barrels? That means over the span of 40 years, they visited the chain restaurant all around the country. Do you have any sort of fun goal for your retirement? Maybe you want to visit all the National Parks? Is there one restaurant YOU could eat at again and again? A place that you love to see when you're far away from home?

After I wrote yesterday's blog about the workplace trend of eating in, I wondered if it sounded like I was "anti-restaurant."  So today I want to go on record and say I LOVE going out to eat!  And I probably do it more than I should.  (It helps to have the excuse that I'm not a very good cook...
