The Jersey Fresh produce season has officially kicked off in the Garden State, with locally grown greens like asparagus and spinach available right now.
Officials say this is the time when the adults, who will not survive the winter, lay large egg masses that will hatch 30 to 50 nymphs each in the spring.
"We are targeting areas where severe infestations have been confirmed, and we also encourage residents to destroy the Spotted Lanternfly if possible when they see it," said New Jersey Department of Agriculture Secretary Douglas Fisher.
New Jersey joins the rest of the country this June in marking, "National Dairy Month," a celebration of dairy farmers and the essential food products that they produce.
In a continuing effort to promote the Garden State's wine and wineries, the Jersey Fresh Wine Promotional program will feature a new "toolbox" on the Find Jersey Fresh website.
