Let's take a trip through history and talk about a landmark here in Ocean County. It's the oldest "bar" or "tavern" if you will in Ocean County. The Cedar Bridge Tavern in Barnegat Township.

According to Wikipedia Cedar Bridge Tavern is believed to be the oldest intact bar in the United States, built in 1740 making it nearly 300 years old.

Just last week we were discussing Ocean County's significance during the Revolutionary War, but did you know that it was on this day, December 27th, in 1782 that the last shots of the war were fired right here in Ocean County?

History is being brought to life in the Pine Barrens where some Monmouth University students are investigating the archeology of the Cedar Bridge Tavern and a settlement in Barnegat, dating back to the 1700's.
