The New Jersey Sierra Club is seeking an injunction to stop work on a bypass road through the Lacey Rail Trail to alleviate traffic on Route 9 while it appeals the state Department of Environmental Protection's approval of the project, according to the group's Director Jeff Tittel.

Jackson Zoning Board Attorney Sean Gertner said an appeal filed in state Superior Court in Toms River seeking to overturn a decision in June to deny the building of an all-girls Orthodox Jewish High School on a 7.5 acre tract on Cross Street is "disappointing."
