Police say Vincent DiCristofalo was seated in his car with Peter Strate, 33, of Cliffwood Beach, in the Middlebrook Shopping Plaza lot around 2:34 PM, when he exited the vehicle to urinate in the lot.

It didn't escape the attention of Detectives Michael Melody and Bryan Morgan, who strolled over to find Strate using a "controlled dangerous substance," police said.

The detectives found both men holding drugs and cited them on a raft of charges, police said.

Di Cristofalo is charged with possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, loitering to buy a controlled dangerous substance, urinating in public, possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle, and several driving offenses.

Strate is charged with possession of heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, and loitering to purchase a controlled dangerous substance.

Both were issued summonses and released to await municipal hearings.
