My Nana would not be happy to live in this world today. I was brought up and being taught, "If You Don't Have Anything Nice To Say, Don't Say it."

My daughter is the love of my life - fresh, funny, truly a wonderful little soul that brings me sunshine every day. She's now 12 and her life and what she does is just so funny, it’s too funny not to talk about or write about. It’s all about sharing our adventures with you. Time flies. Thanks for all of your advice through the years, mom's we are never alone! I guess it should be "Sue's Mom Blog" since she's so grown up now, I'm totally laughing out loud at that!

The TV show "Roseanne" was cancelled yesterday because of a racist, nasty, and a mean tweet Roseanne Barr put up on Twitter. It was unbelievably uncomfortable to read and it was taken down almost immediately. ABC cancelled her show immediately and everyone on that show now is out of a job all because that actress hit send. It's so sad and I wonder why people think they're being funny, when they are so far away from funny.

It was a great lesson for Abby and social media. She knew about the tweet from school. Before she saw what it said, it was already taken down (she heard about it). So we talked about it and here's the greatest lesson I could ever teach a 12 year old about social media. I told her that Roseanne - the lady on the TV - chose to write this. She made a VERY BAD choice that she never should have done. She ruined her life and everyone else that worked on that show with her. And it only took the time of eating an OREO cookie, or the walk to our trampoline, or as quick as me taking you right down the block to Dairy Queen. "That fast", Abs. Her eyes were amazed, she was like -"WHAT?" Yes - That's how quick your life can change just because you wrote something and hit send. Bullying and talking about the way someone looks is not acceptable..PERIOD. I said to her, "Do not do anything that you know Nanny wouldn't like." I always use Nanny (My Mom, her Nanny) because we know she's like angelic to us. I know Abby wouldn't do anything that would make Nanny sad or worse yet mad. Use it if it works, right!

If nothing else it's a life's lesson for our little ones that think social media is so much fun, it's only fun if it's put to good use. So I say, of course, "If You Don't Have Anything Nice To Say, Don't say It." "And don't write it!"

Let's just be kind!
