I may not have gone to bed until 6 am this morning, so I'll admit that I'm a little tired in the WOBM studios today, but it's all for a good cause. Last night I was lucky to be a part of Manahawkin's Relay for Life Celebration with the American Cancer Society at Southern Regional High School. This was my fourth year participating in a Relay for Life event, and the power of these events never ceases to amaze me. Yes, my feet hurt. I am tired after Manahawkin's overnight Relay for Life, but it was definitely worth it. In fact, Relay for Life events are happening across the Jersey Shore this weekend. So I want to take moment to shout-out to everyone participating in Relay for Life Events at the Jersey Shore this weekend and in the weeks to come.

Events took place last night in Wall, Brick, Toms River and Manahawkin last night. Congratulations to all of the participants!

Events are taking place in Berkeley / Lacey Township and Hazlet today. Walk-in registrations are totally welcome. Get the complete schedule of events for Berkeley Township's Relay for Life at Veteran's Park here.  Both events run through 6 am tomorrow.

If you've never participated in a Relay for Life event, I highly encourage you to take a look at the list of events happening at the shore this year. Members of your teams take turns walking the track to raise funds to find a cure for cancer. So I assure you that you don't have to run. You do not need to have a team to attend the event or participate in the fundraising efforts.

In fact, my favorite part about Relay for Life is the celebration and reflection. Survivors are honored with a reception, and it's a great chance to truly remember why we are relaying each year. It's also a chance to celebrate your community. Wherever you're from, it's amazing to see the amount of people that come out from all walks of life.

My family started participating in Relay for Life events in 2012 after we lost my grandfather to prostate cancer. I have met people who have lost their mothers, fathers, husbands, brothers, and so many more to cancer. I am always amazed by their strength and courage.  I'd also like to quickly thank all of my generous donors from the VERY bottom of my heart for supporting my Relay for Life goals in honor of so many loved ones that we have lost to cancer.

There are still plenty of Relay for Life events left this year in Ocean and Monmouth Counties. Manchester, Middletown, Freehold and more towns all have events coming up in the next few weeks.
