County investigators suspect that the newest scam to separate you from your money involves threatening to take your house.

Foreclosure Fraud Prevention, an entity listing a business address in mailings at One Bridge Plaza in Fort Lee, NJ, is at the center of a developing investigation, according to the office of county Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

The matter came to light when a Brick Township resident notified Provident Bank of a "Foreclosure Final Notice" letter, a replica of which can be seen in the image on the left.

Bank officers advised the resident that it was fraudulent, with no connection to the institution, authorities said. Representatives who called the numbers, encountering voicemail greetings, determined that they are not connected to the sender.

Provident notified the Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.

Investigators warn against accepting any sort of notice of this type, especially from unknown sources, at face value.

If you hold a Provident account and have received one, reach them at 732-590-9200. If you have dealings with any bank, including Proficent, and have received one, report it to County Prosecutor's office, 732-929-2027.
