NEW BRUNSWICK — What can you buy with $1.43 million?

More than 200,000 "grease truck" sandwiches, for starters. Nearly 8,000 college text books. And a U.S. president at your graduation.

That's how much Rutgers University spent last year on the commencement ceremony starring President Barack Obama, according to NJ.com.

The graduation ceremony — which marked the university's 250th anniversary — was held at the Rutgers football stadium in Piscataway.

Obama was the first sitting U.S. president to address a Rutgers graduation class. About 50,000 graduates and spectators attended the event in May.

“America converges here and in so many ways the history of Rutgers mirrors the evolution of America,” Obama said.

This year's graduation speaker will be the E Street Band's Steven Van Zandt.
