Pedestrian killed crossing Route 9 in Howell

A pedestrian struck by a car while crossing Route 9 Sunday night was killed, according to Howell police.

Authorities said the accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. north of West Farms Road near the Chapter House restaurant.

The pedestrian's name is being withheld, pending family notification, according to police.

The southbound lanes of Route 9 were closed until about 2:15 a.m. during the investigation.
