Oh, Lighten Up!

I stayed up a little later than usual last night to catch part of the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards. I really wasn't tuning in to root for any movie, TV show or actor. Sure I have my favorites, but I was really watching to see who Ricky Gervais was gonna insult.

We all remember what happened the last time Gervais hosted the show. There was an outcry from Hollywood. "Ooh he offended me" or "he went a little too far." I don't think so at all. It's all in good fun. These celebrities take themselves way too seriously. When Gervais opened last night's show by saying "Nervous? Don't Be," you knew he wasn't gonna be light on them.

The British jack of all trades seemed a little less shocking than last year - mostly taking shots at NBC, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, the Hollywood Foreign Press and Jodie Foster. The funny part for me was watching the actors in the crowd look so uncomfortable. What's the big deal? If you're a celebrity, you have to be ready for anything.

Recently, Gervais said during an interview that he doesn't care who he offends - they are just gags. You could tell from the looks on the faces of many they were waiting to see what was coming next.

I agree, Ricky. I say lighten up or stay home.
