Ocean County Prosecutor Wins Statewide Honor for Anti-Drug Efforts
Using innovation and finding new methods to battle New Jersey's heroin epidemic on his own home turf, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato earns the title "Prosecutor Of The Year" from the New Jersey Narcotics Officers Association.
Coronato was given the award at Association's conference in Atlantic City this week. Also singled out for their leadership and skills were Detectives Anthony Sgro, Michael Heale and David Fox of Coronato's office; Corrections Detective Rebecca Roth, and the Prosecutor's North and South Special Operations Groups.
The two investigative teams figured largely in Coronato's selection. He was also recognized for spearheading the Narcan pilot project that is credited with helping dozens of potential overdose victims avert death, and for unprecedented educational outreach including videos that feature Ocean County teens, and forums attended by thousands in Toms River and Manahawkin.
You can view the detailed accomplishments of all the Ocean County honorees in the information posted on the Prosecutor's web page.
