The weather outside isn't frightful...It's too warm for a fire, delightful or otherwise...We all have plenty of places to go...Let it NOT snow. OK, corny? Yes. Cheesy? Absolutely. But I got your attention. After last winter's assault by mother nature, I can honestly say I'm not ready for another round of the bitter winter white.

While many can opt to take off from work when there's inclement weather conditions, being a news anchor/reporter I don't have that luxury. In fact, there have been several instances where I've slept over at the radio station - most recently for Hurricane Irene. We in the news department have a job to do and I take that very seriously. When it comes to snow, I can't stand it.

I'm not gonna lie - it's a real adrenaline rush to crack open the mic and tell you about what's going on with the roads, previewing school closing announcements and telling you how much more assault from ol' man winter we can expect. WOBM actually began broadcasting many moons ago during a blizzard - since then, it's been your place for information during such events. The winter of 2010 will go down as one of the snowiest on record here in New Jersey. I remember being a pipsqueak in 1993 during those crazy storms but it was nothing compared to last December and January to March of this year.

2010 Snow Aftermath

Having to shovel out at 3:00 in the morning is never fun. The car I was driving for several years never handled well in the snow and instead of having to bum rides off co-workers who had four wheel drive, I finally invested in buying a used Jeep earlier this year. I bought it and then it didn't snow again so I couldn't even test it out. No, I'm not complaining. I would rather dry conditions.

While I've always liked the pretty look of the snow, it's just too much. I was that rare kid in school who would be listening to the radio for the snow closing announcement and being disappointed when they said there was no school. Why? You have to make up those days and it is better to be in school during school time than the summer. That was always my logic that many of my friends and classmates didn't understand till it was too late.

So my holiday wish for this year is - NO SNOW. Is it possible to have a winter totally free of the cold white stuff? One can only hope.

From New Mexico to Kansas right now, a blizzard continues to wreak havoc just before the big holiday travel day. I'm glad ol' man winter hasn't found his way to the Garden State. He WON'T be home for Christmas... And I'll be happy...happy once again. OK. I'm done.
