NJ Transit train derails at NY Penn Station, no passengers on board
NEW YORK — An empty NJ Transit train derailed at New York Penn Station on Wednesday morning.
The train's engine derailed in the Sunnyside Yard while it was being operated by an Amtrak crew around 4:25 a.m., according to a statement from NJ Transit.
The train's passenger cars derailed on Track 4 and are blocking Tracks 1 through 6 inside Penn Station.
No injuries were reported.
NJ Transit said there will be 20-minute delays in both directions on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Montclair-Boonton, and Midtown Direct lines as Amtrak crews work to remove the engine.
