Neptune Man At Large After Shooting at His Girlfriend’s Son
The live-in boyfriend of a Neptune Township woman is at large on attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting at her teenage son.
The Monmouth County Prosecutors Office is searching for 57-year-old Howard Charles Long. Officials say early Thursday evening, following an argument and physical altercation at a residence on Fordham Avenue, Long retrieved a handgun and fired a shot at the 17-year-old boy. Officials say when he missed,Long began chasing the victim outside and fired another shot.
Long fled in a vehicle when the victim's father arrived who called 9-1-1.
Complaints were signed against Long for Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose. A warrant for his arrest was issued Friday.
