Neptune City Armed Holdup Suspect Collared
One day shy of a week after a vicious gunpoint robbery of a neighborhood grocery in Neptune City, police say they have their prime suspect.
David Clinton Nevins, 56, of Neptune Township, was apprehended Tuesday, according to information from Public Safety Director Ed Kirschenbaum. Nevins is charged with robbery, two weapons-possession counts and terroristic threats.
Nevins was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, with bail set at $220,000. He was given no option for release on payment of 10 percent.
The East West grocery was held up on the afternoon on November 20 by a suspect heavily disguised and riding a bicycle. Police circulated surveillance stills and video on numerous web sites and social media pages, which they credit with accelerating the pace of the probe.
