The newest tool in County Clerk Christine Hanlon's gear box - a rolling office - hits the road on August 12th. The Mobile County Connection's maiden voyage takes it to the Howell Township Library, from 11 AM until 2 PM.

"We have such a big county," Hanlon remarked. "We have 53 municipalities. We just decided that it might be a good idea to do outreach, because a lot of people don't know what the County provides."

The rolling office will provide a great many services at its grand opening, including free notary services, voter information, and passport applications and renewals.

Hanlon has also enlisted County Sheriff Shaun Golden and Surrogate Rosemarie Peters to supplement her efforts. Sheriff's officers will have tips for proper child safety-seat installaion and will distribute children's identification cards as well as Ident-Adult cards for seniors.

The Surrogate staff will supply information about estates and guardianships, and a state representative will offer information about adoption services.

Upcoming stops are in the works through early autumn, Hanlon said. "Our second event is going to be at the Middletown Arts Center on August 18. Then on September 16 we'll bring it to Covered Bridge in Manalapan. On October 6, we're at the Holmdel Community Center." More visits will fill the schedule in the next several weeks, Hanlon said.

In addition to the main office in the Hall of Records in Freehold, the Clerk's office maintains a brick-and-mortar satellite County Connection office on Route 66 in Neptune.

Much more information is available on the Monmouth County Clerk web page.
