The United States men’s hockey team will not have a chance to play for a medal after losing their quarterfinal game to the Czech Republic 3-2 in a shootout.

There was more disappointment on the ice in women’s figure skating with Americans in 9th, 10th and 11th place after the short program. 15-year old Alina Zagitova is the leader

Lindsay Vonn had to settle for a bronze medal in the women’s downhill but at age 33 becomes the oldest female medalist in Alpine skiing at the Winter Games.

She has one more event in her Olympic career and that comes up tonight in the downhill phase of the women’s combined which also includes Mikaela Shiffrin.

Also tonight is freestyle skiing with the men’s halfpipe final, women’s bobsledding and the women’s ice hockey gold medal game between the US and Canada which begins around 10:45.

Norway continues to lead the medals race with 30, including 11 gold while Germany is next with 23 medals. The United States has won a total of 13 medals with 5 of them gold which puts them in a tie for 5th place with France.
