Deal Police make an arrest in the suspected alcohol-fueled hit and run of a police cruiser Sunday. Police located a vehicle matching the description on Park Terrace in Long Branch early Sunday morning and charged Township resident Tony Dias Da Costa with DWI, Assault By Auto, Leaving The Scene of an Accident, Failure to Provide a Driver's Licene and a host of other charges.

According to NJ.com, Da Costa slammed Patrolman Jon Losquadro's so hard on Norwood Drive that the police car was pushed onto the sidewalk and into a traffic signal. The report said the driver then fled toward Long Branch and Losquardo attempted to pursue him.

Da Costa was also taken to the Monmouth Medical Center for evaluation and released pending a future court date.

The officer was taken to the hospital for evaluation and released.
