Swimmers were asked to leave the water around 4 p.m. Tuesday after possible stingrays were spotted. They were allowed to return 45 minutes later. Nothing was found.

The Asbury Park Press reports that two shark sightings were reported on two different borough beaches on Monday night. They were never confirmed.

Police Chief Edward Kerr says lifeguards will perform a routine check of the water Wednesday morning.
