JCP&L conducting helicopter inspections in Monmouth County

Don't panic if you see a helicopter hovering over Monmouth County over the next several weeks.

Jersey Central Power & Light will be conducting its Oceanview Reinforcement Project, beginning today and lasting through May 25, 2016, in Neptune, Wall and Colts Neck, according to Neptune Township Police.

Authorities are alerting residents that they may notice the chopper moving slowly over Routes 18 and 66, and that portions of the highway may close for a few minutes at a time to allow the helicopter to cross.

The helicopter will appear as it does in the photo above, but with the tail number N138WH, police said.

Poor weather and emergencies elsewhere may cause rescheduling.
