State police say two people found shot in different areas of northern New Jersey this weekend were wounded in the same incident, and one victim later died.

But when and why the shootings occurred remained unclear Sunday.

The investigation began around 1 a.m. Saturday when 27-year-old Latisha Brogdon of Orange — who had been shot in the arm — was found walking along Route 78 in Newark. A stolen vehicle also was found abandoned nearby.

A short time later, 25-year-old John Frazier of Newark was seen walking along the highway. He was later charged with receiving stolen property and a weapons offense.

Later Saturday morning, police learned the driver in a one-car crash in Union had been shot. He died a short time later, and further details were not disclosed.
