The return ride from the shore points is a long and heavy one.

The Garden State Parkway is a slow ride from the Forked River service area to I-195 in Wall, roughly a 26 mile delay. The New Jersey Turnpike, meanwhile, is a slow 18 mile ride from #7 (Route 206) to the split at #8A in Jamesburg,

Many vacationers hoping to get an an early start on the ride home found heavy traffic on the Garden State Parkway leaving Wildwood and heading north towards Wildwood and the Atlantic City Expressway.

The secondary routes like Route 47, 347 and 322 to the south Jersey shore all quickly filled with traffic.

It didn't take long for volume to turn into slow northbound rides on the Parkway through Ocean and Monmouth counites with pockets of slow volume up-and-over the Driscoll Bridge.

An accident on the New Jersey Turnpike northbound around 12noon help to create a delay upwards of 20 miles that kept the road slow to the split at #8A (Jamesburg). Southbound traffic was also tied up by an earlier accident and delays at the Delaware Memorial Bridge toll plaza.
