You know that expression about how you have to walk a mile in someone's shoes to really understand what they're experiencing?  Something happened over the weekend that helped me empathize with people who do manual labor, and it only took 5 minutes.

Due to the unexpected demise of my refrigerator, a wall full of built-in cabinetry had to be raised up to make room for the new taller unit that's coming this week.  Thankfully BF Bob has great carpentry skills so he was willing to tackle the job over the weekend.  But at one point, he needed an extra set of hands so he called on me.  My task?  To help raise and support the cabinet that would go above the fridge so he could secure it to the cabinet on the side.  Are you with me?

Holding this cabinet above my head, I started to sweat after about two minutes.  Then, my muscles started to shake.  After about five minutes he had successfully gotten the cabinets attached and I felt ready to pass out.  Well, maybe not pass out, but certainly sit down and take a break.

I felt embarrassed thinking that I barely lasted five minutes, knowing there are people who do this kind of work every day!  Every week!

So I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for literally carrying a heavy load and doing some tough work!
