Governor Christie Promotes Shore [VIDEO]

Jersey shore towns are ready for business this holiday weekend and upcoming summer, despite the destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy in October.

Governor Chris Christie was present in Lavallette today for the completion of the borough’s boardwalk, one of many reopening this week.

The Governor said Lavallette would be only his first stop this week and weekend, making sure everyone in New Jersey and across the country are aware that the Jersey shore is ready for customers.

“We’ll have every boardwalk up and down the Jersey shore open and ready for business on Memorial Day Weekend,” Governor Christie said, noting the task seemed almost impossible when he first visited the shore after Sandy.

Just this Saturday, the boardwalk in Asbury Park was officially re-opened after sustaining more than $3 million in damage. Along with Lavallette, boardwalks in Avon, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Point Pleasant, Seaside Heights are all reopening this week, as well as the pavilion in Monmouth Beach.

Christie and his family will be traveling the shore this upcoming weekend, from as south as Wildwood to as north as Keansburg.
