I'm not a parent but I have been around long enough to know that Parent -Teenage conflict is common, especially among mothers and daughters. I often tell my girlfriend's with kids. "Don't worry just leave them alone until they turn 25 and then their brain grows back."

Some experts may say the parent-teen conflict is sparked by raging adolescent hormones. I see it as a necessary life cycle in a teen's quest to become an adult.

When I was a teen I was just trying to find my own voice, ideologies, politics and religious values completely distinct from my parents. Sometimes that self expression didn't come out so nice. (Ask my Dad) LOL!

That's why a news story that's airing this Monday is so critical. It's about a free program being offered to Ocean and Monmouth Counties that helps Families to reconnect and find common ground called the Strengthening Families Program in Ocean and Monmouth Counties presented by the Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention.

Sure it's a 14 week program, but it's two hours one night a week, they offer delicious catered food and prizes. You just can't beat that! Heck, I want to go! More importantly, the peace and civility reaped from the whole experience is priceless.

I urge you to take advantage of the program and register by calling Alyson Zilai at 732-942-5753 or azilai@barnabashealth.org.
