According to the Asbury Park Press, city police discovered two semiautomatic handguns and hollow ammunition in the vehicle where four males and one female were riding in the 1100 block of bond street at around 10:30 p.m.

Arrested were Quinton Rush, 18, of Neptune City; Brennan Bland, 21, of Long Branch; Daniel Julio, 22, of Long Branch; Michelle Major, 18, of Howell; and Marciyah Till, 18, of Freehold borough. Rush, Bland and Julio face additional charges for unlawful possess of a firearm by persons not to possess firearms with bail imposed at $250,000.

The arrest comes on the heals of harsh criticism of city police for not doing enough to prevent gun violence in the city's west ward. The arrest came through a joint effort by the city's street crime unit and the prosecutor's office Gang Task Force.
