Pope Francis traveled from New York City to Philadelphia earlier this morning. So did the Holy Father fly over Ocean County during that trip?

The answer: barely, according to FlightAware.com's flight tracking map.  The pope was flying on an American Airlines plane from JFK to Philadelphia. The flight path appears to have taken him mostly over the Atlantic Ocean. So he was just east of us here in Ocean County for a while.

The plane appears to have made the curve back over land right around the southern most tip of Long Beach Island. The route brought the pope through Port Republic (just south of Tuckerton).

But if you have friends who live in South Jersey, he may have flown over their homes!

In fact, in Atlantic County Pope Francis flew over Galloway and Egg Harbor City. I am an Ocean County boy (born and rasied), but I am actually am currently living in Egg Harbor City. I was already on my way to the radio station at that time, but it's a pretty cool piece of information to share with friends this weekend. Right?
